How does water get through root hairs into root vessels?

Root hairs absorb water and minerals from the soil. In order for these substances to get to the vessels and organs of the plant (leaves, flowers, stems, fruits), there is pressure in the roots, which is able to raise the water and the nutrients dissolved in it upward along the ascending paths of the vessels (through the sieve tubes). The plant also uses salt from the soil to make the liquid rise in the right direction.
