How is observation and experimentation different?

Observation and experiment are methods of scientific research that are applied in biology as well. Observation is characterized by the study of the behavior of living organisms in their natural habitat. For example, we consider ciliates-shoes in a drop of water under a microscope: how they move, capture food, multiply.
An experiment involves changing conditions and observing the body’s response. For example, this was how the phenomenon of chemotaxis was revealed in ciliates – movement from or to the stimulus.
