How is poetry different from prose?

Poetry and prose are two ways of organizing artistic speech. Poetry, in contrast to prose, has special additional measures for organizing speech. When constructing a poetic text, rhythm, meter, poetic meter and rhyme are taken into account. A poetic work is divided into commensurate segments – verses, or, as they say in everyday language – lines. There are no such requirements in prose. In addition, prose can be artistic and non-artistic; poetry cannot be non-artistic.
