How is South America located relative to other continents?

The closest in South America is North America – the continents seem to be located one above the other – South below (in the southern hemisphere), and North above (in the northern hemisphere) – connected by the Isthmus of Panama. To the south, at the bottom of South America, Antarctica is located – they are separated by the Drake Passage. Mainland Africa is located almost parallel to South America, but on the other side of the globe. Unlike Africa, the equator crosses South America in the northern part, and most of it is in the Southern Hemisphere.
