How is sporophyte different from gametophyte?

Sporophyte is a spore-producing multicellular plant.

Gametophyte is a plant in higher plants that produces sex cells – gametes.

Interestingly, in some plants, for example, the cuckoo flax moss, there is an alternation of generations. Plants with a diploid set of chromosomes – sporophytes, produce spores, from which a plant with a haploid set of chromosomes – gametophyte – grows.

Moreover, the sporophyte reproduces only vegetatively, while the gametophyte is a dioecious organism and reproduces sexually.
