How is the history of the Eastern Slavs connected with the great migration of peoples?

The great migration of peoples, which began in the IV century with the invasion of the Eastern Europe by the Huns, had a great influence on the formation of the Slavic ethnos.
After the processes of the Great Nations Migration, the Slavs formed three stable territorial groups: South, West and East Slavs. During this period, the Slavs settled beyond the Elbe, on the territory of Byzantium and on the shores of the Baltic Sea.
