two-dimensional: coordinate system X and Y, used when the point has 2 degrees of free: for example, it can only move back and forth and left and right;
three-dimensional: coordinate system X, Y and Z, used when the point has 3 degrees of freedom: it can move back and forth, left and right and up and down.
