How is the position of free peasants different from the dependent?

The answer to this question lies in its essence.

1. A free peasant is a person who did not have dependence on the feudal lord and was not obliged to him. This category was engaged in agriculture. Very often she rented land from a feudal lord. Dependence on the feudal lord was only due to the feudal lord’s residence and activities on the land. This was expressed in a fixed rent. The position of a free peasant was legalized and the feudal lord could not raise wages.

2. The dependent peasantry is a direct continuation of slavery. They differed from slaves in the recognized right to life. They depended on the feudal lord, but by exploiting them, the feudal lord provided protection, retail space, and storage facilities. They had private property. In Russia, their position was almost the same as that of slaves. They were sold, killed, changed.
