How is the soil different from the parent rock?

The soil is the surface layer of the hard shell of our planet and differs from the rest of the layers of rocks. The point is in the origin and composition of the soil. Other layers of the earth’s crust are of magmatic (like granite, basalt), sedimentary (like lime, coal, clay) or metamorphic (like marble) origin, and the soil consists of a mixture of sedimentary rocks and particles of organic origin that enter the ground from dead plant parts , animals, their secretions and excrement, which make the soil fertile.
