How is the structure of epithelial tissue related to its functions?
Connective tissue connects the various cells and organs of the body and has the function of holding all the parts together. Connective tissue is the pathway by which blood vessels and nerves reach all parts of the body.
Other functions include supporting the body and fighting infections.
Dense fibrous connective tissue has a high concentration of fibers intertwined with each other and tightly packed in parallel bundles. An example is tendons and ligaments.
Reticular connective tissue has a loose network of fine fibers. There are several types of cells such as macrophages. Found in lymph nodes, spleen and bone marrow.
Fatty is usually found in the subcutaneous tissue. Acts as a repository of excess food and as a supplement to certain organs of the body, as a remedy.
