How is tissue structure related to function?

The structure of tissues is directly related to the function of the tissue. The location of cells, their shape, as well as the structure of cells are important. Muscle tissue is made up of fibers. This gives it strength and makes it possible to perform its functions. Bone tissue has its own structure, thanks to which bones are strong and hard. Not only animals, but also plants with mushrooms have a special structure of various tissues. Other kingdoms – bacteria, protists and chromists – do not have tissues, since they are unicellular organisms.
