To determine the mass of water heated by burning kerosene, we use the equality: Cw * mw * Δt = mk * qk, whence mw = mk * qk / (Cw * Δt).
Variables and constants: mk is the mass of consumed kerosene (mk = 200 g = 0.2 kg); qк – specific heat of combustion of kerosene (qк = 4.6 * 10 ^ 7 J / kg); Sv – specific heat of water (Sv = 4200 J / (kg * K)); Δt – change (increase) in water temperature (Δt = 100 ºС).
Calculation: mw = mk * qk / (Cw * Δt) = 0.2 * 4.6 * 10 ^ 7 / (4200 * 100) = 21.9 kg ≈ 22 kg.
