The Middle Ages can be roughly divided into the following separate historical periods:
The early Middle Ages include the time period from the 5th to the 11th century;
The classical Middle Ages covers the period from the 11th to the 13th-14th centuries;
The late Middle Ages date back to the 13-15th centuries.
