Britain has experienced large-scale conquests three times.
1. The conquest of Britain by the Romans. This conquest took place during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Half of Britain was turned into a Roman province and later walled off from the rest of Britain.
2. Conquest by the Saxons. Happened when Roman troops were withdrawn from Britain to defend Rome.
3. Conquest by the Normans. Under the leadership of William the Conqueror, the Normans conquered England. After that, there were no large-scale invasions of England.
