How many types of gametes and which ones form the following organisms: a) an organism with the Ccdd genotype, b) a CcDd dihybrid, c) a CcDdEe trihybrid?

Each gamete contains one allelic from each pair in various combinations.

1) In the first case, an organism with the Ccdd genotype will form only 2 types of gametes: Cd and cd.

2) Dihybrids give 4 types of gametes: СD, Сd, cD, and cd.

3) The trihybrid already gives 8 types of gametes: CDE, CDe, CdE, Cde, cDE, cDe, cdE and cde.

The number of gametes in a hybrid organism can be determined by raising 2 to the power n, which will be equal to the number of pairs of chromosomes containing different alleles of the gene. For example, in the CcDd genotype, two pairs of chromosomes contain different alleles, so we square 2.
