How many warriors were housed in one war chariot?

As a rule, two people were immobilized in a war chariot (in the Persian-Assyrian crew consisted of three people). One was the charioteer – the one who drives the chariot. In addition to him, there was a skirmisher warrior in the chariot – an archer or a spear thrower, who protected the chariot from enemy attacks.
