How much CaO is required to react with 6.3 grams of HNO₃?

We draw up the reaction equation and place the coefficients: CaO + 2HNO3 = Ca (NO3) 3 + H2O.
1) According to the periodic table, we find the molar mass of nitric acid: 1 + 14 + 16 * 3 = 63.
2) Find the amount of nitric acid substance. To do this, divide the mass of the acid by its molar mass: 6.3 / 63 = 0.1 mol.
3) According to the reaction equation, there are two moles of nitric acid per mole of calcium oxide. This means that the amount of oxide substance is: 0.1 * 2 = 0.2 mol.
4) Molar mass of copper oxide: 16 + 64 = 80.
5) The mass of copper oxide is: 80 * 0.2 = 16g – the answer.
