1) Calculate the mass of the phosphoric acid solute. To do this, we multiply the mass fraction of the substance by the mass of the solution and divide by one hundred percent: 980 * 20/100 = 196g.
2) According to the periodic table, we calculate the molar mass of phosphoric acid: 1 * 3 + 31 + 16 * 4 = 98.
3) Find the amount of phosphoric acid substance. To do this, divide the mass of the acid by the molar mass: 196/98 = 2 mol.
4) According to the reaction equation, there are three moles of potassium hydroxide per mole of phosphoric acid. This means that the amount of potassium hydroxide substance is: 2/3 = 0.7 mol – the answer.
