Oil and gas are produced on the shelf (Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea).

In the insular part of Africa (Malabo and Sao Tome and Principe), cocoa is grown.

In general, agriculture is extensive there, especially in countries like Malawi (the center of potato growing in tropical Africa), Burundi, Ethiopia and the Democratic Congo.
