How the state of fragmentation (after Napoleon) affected the further development of Italy.

In the 19th century, Italy remained economically and politically fragmented. This condition had negative consequences. The country was burdened with feudal remnants. This held back the development of industrial production, slowed down the beginning of the industrial revolution (it took place only in a few, most developed regions). Feudal vestiges negatively affected the population: landlords could still exploit their workers.
