How the victory in the Greco-Persian wars influenced the economic and state orders in Athens in the 5th century BC

The Athens navy was becoming the largest in the region. The Long Walls were erected to defend the road linking Athens to the harbor at Piraeus. In the city of Athens, they began to take tax for the right to have trade. Large funds from the treasury were allocated for the restoration of the city and construction. The position of the first strategist began to play the most important role. The influence of the aristocracy decreased and the importance of the demos was strengthened.
