Find the displacement along the x and y axes.
X-axis: 40-10 = 30.
Y-axis: -30 – 20 = 50 (minus is removed since the module is taken)
Now imagine the path as a triangle, where the hypotenuse is the displacement.
By the Pythagorean theorem:
displacement = √ (30 ^ 2 + 50 ^ 2)
displacement = √ (900 + 2500)
Since there is no whole root out of 3400, the displacement is approximately 58.4.
