How to determine the mass fraction of a substance?

In this task, you need to write down how to determine the mass fraction of a substance.

Complete the task as follows
Write down the definition of the concept of mass fraction of a substance;
Formula for determining the mass fraction of a substance;
An example of determining the mass fraction.
Mass fraction means the following
Mass fraction – the ratio of the mass of the solute to the mass of the solution. Mass fraction is measured in fractions of a unit or in percent:

W = m1 / m2;

W = m1 / m2 * 100%.

Where:

ω – mass fraction of solute in fractions
ω (%) – mass fraction of solute in percent
m1 is the mass of the solute, g;
m is the total mass of the solution (the mass of the solute plus the mass of the solvent) g.

Many characteristics of a substance are the sum of several components, each of which represents a certain fraction of the whole. Mathematically, the share of each component is defined as the quotient of dividing the part by the whole.

So, for example, the mass fraction of hydrogen in ethyl alcohol is calculated as follows:

M (C2H6O) = 2M (C) + 6M (H) + M (O) = 2 * 12 + 6 * 1 + 16 = 46 g / mol.

W (H) = 6M (H) / M (C2H6O) = 6 g / 46 g = 0.13 or 13%.
