How to find out where the right bank is near the river, and where is the left?

The direction of the river will help us determine the right or left bank. If you look in the direction where the water moves away from you, then on your right hand is the right bank, and on your left – the left.

The direction of the flow can be defined as follows: stand with your back to the source, respectively, facing the mouth, the direction where you are looking will be the course of the river.

Or all this can be done with the help of improvised means. Take a leaf or blade of grass, put it on the water, if a blade of grass or leaf floats away from you and you look after them, then to your right is the right bank, and to your left is the left.
