How to find the area of a rhombus?

A rhombus is a parallelogram in which all sides are equal. There are two ways to find the area of a rhombus:

1) The area of a rhombus is the product of the height by the side to which it is drawn.

Let us be given a rhombus ABCE and AH – the height drawn to the BC side.

Therefore S ABCE = AH * BC.

2) The area of a rhombus is the product of its diagonals by 1/2.

Let us be given a rhombus ABCE, AC and BE – diagonals.

Therefore S ABCE = 1/2 * AC * BE.
