How to find the diagonal of a parallelogram if you know the perimeter of the parallelogram and the perimeter of the triangle. The perimeter of the parallelogram is 10cm. The perimeter of the triangle is 8cm. Find the diagonal.

1. A, B, C, D – the tops of the parallelogram. The perimeter of the AСD triangle is 8 centimeters.

AC – diagonal.

2. The total length of all sides of the parallelogram (perimeter P) is calculated by the formula):

P = 2СD + 2AD = 10 centimeters.

СD + AD = 5 centimeters.

3. The total length of all sides of the AСD triangle (perimeter P) is calculated by the formula:

P = СD + AD + AC = 8 centimeters.

5 + AC = 8 centimeters.

AC – 8 – 5 = 3 cm.

Answer: the length of the AC diagonal of the AВСD parallelogram is 3 centimeters.
