Butyric acid is butanoic acid – CH3-CH2-CH2-COOH, isobutyric acid has the same composition, but a different structure of the molecule – CH3-CH (CH3) -COOH.
1. Obtained from acid propane
2 CH3-CH (CH3) -COOH +2 Na = 2 CH3-CH (CH3) -COONa + H2
CH3-CH (CH3) -COONa NaOH = NA2CO3 + CH3-CH2 -CH3
2. We get nitropropane
CH3-CH2 -CH3 + HNO3 = CH3-CH (NO2) -CH3 + H2O
3 we get propylamine
CH3-CH (NO2) -CH3 +2 H2 = CH3-CH (NH2) -CH3 + H2O
