How to learn a poem quickly?

In order to learn a poem easily and quickly, you need to understand its meaning, imbued with its pathos: the text should not be just a set of words and expressions. To do this, you need to do the following:

1. carefully, slowly, read the entire poem;

2. to identify unfamiliar words and to determine their meaning (for example, in “Borodino” such words can be historicisms “bivouac”, “shako”, “carriage”);

3. to determine the theme and idea of the poem (“Borodino” is a work about the General Battle of the Patriotic War of 1812, about which the veteran of the Battle of Borodino tells: he admires the exploits of Russian soldiers and worries that there are no “heroes” at present.).

After that, you can proceed directly to memorization: it is better to memorize the text in parts (Borodino is successfully divided into eight stanzas), “attaching” the next learned part to the already learned main text and each time repeating everything together.
