How was inequality manifested in German society?

Despite the fact that the Germanic tribes were still quite wild, inequality in society existed already at that time. Most of all, such inequality manifested itself during the period of military campaigns, when a significant part of the booty (gold, slaves, etc.) was taken by the leaders, and the ordinary Germans, respectively, received a smaller share.
