How was the influence of ancient traditions on Byzantine education and science manifested?

A feature of science and education in Byzantium was that, despite the spread of the Christian religion on the territory of the state, and the rather strong role of the church in the life of society and the ruling elite, education remained secular. Ancient thinkers such as Herodotus, Plato, Homer and Aristotle were studied. It was believed that their reasoning did not contradict the postulates of Christianity. That is, we can conclude that education and science were secular. It is also worth noting the fact that anyone could get an education, and even a commoner could make a career and rise up at the expense of his knowledge.

One of the components of a person's success in our time is receiving modern high-quality education, mastering the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for life in society. A person today needs to study almost all his life, mastering everything new and new, acquiring the necessary professional qualities.
