How was the position of a Babylonian different from that of a foreign slave?

The main distinction of the inhabitant of Babylon was his privileges, which Hammurabi approved in his laws. The ruler of this ancient country faced chaos in the territories that belonged to him and was forced to introduce order at the legislative level. The rights of the inhabitants of Babylon were significantly different from that of foreign slaves. The Babylonian who fell into slavery for debts could not work for more than 3 years for debts. In the event of a crop failure, debts were partially or completely eliminated or carried over to the next year. The Babylonian slave-debtor could not be taken away from his house and food in the house. But if a foreign captive turned out to be a Babylonian, then he was freed immediately and became a free man. The rest of the captive slaves faced the plight of a slave. But even then, many of the captive slaves received freedom.
