How was the position of a slave in Rome different from that of a medieval peasant?

There were many differences between peasants and slaves: first, slaves were a living commodity, but peasants were not; second, the slaves worked entirely under duress; in others, peasants could have their own property, but slaves could not. The life of a peasant itself was not easy, but it cannot be compared with the life of slaves, since they worked very hard and quickly depleted, which became the reason for their short life.
