How was the Roman Republic organized?

The highest authority was the Senate. It included the oldest, wealthy citizens of the Roman Republic. This meeting resolved all emerging issues.

2 consuls with broad powers were elected from among the senators. At the end of the term, they were required to report on their actions.

There were also quaestor and magistrate posts. It was a step on the way to the Senate for the young members of the nobility.

There were also popular assemblies, the so-called comitia.

In case of emergency, a dictator with unlimited powers was elected.
