How was the spiritual crisis of Roman society expressed?

A spiritual crisis arose in Rome due to the fact that at that moment many different cults arose that differed from Christianity. People’s life was difficult, society lost all hope and they began to believe in various gods. However, only Christianity gave hope for a better life, albeit an afterlife, so people from the upper strata of society decided to accept this particular religion. It was believed that only faith, which gives hope for a future good afterlife, can save one from a spiritual crisis.
