How was the traditional Austrian empire different from the English colonial?

The Austrian empire was continental. She was located mainly in central Europe. Moreover, since 1868, it was a dualistic monarchy – Austria-Hungary. The fleet for her was a secondary matter, like the colonies. The Austrians had only a small trading post in China (Tianjin). The level of socio-economic development in Austria-Hungary varied, from very poor and backward Bosnia to developed Austria and the Czech Republic.
The British colonial empire in Europe was represented by two islands – Great Britain and Ireland, Gibraltar and Cyprus. The main thing for her was the fleet, not the army. It was the world’s factory in the 19th century. that is, the leader in production. England had colonies in North and South America (Canada, Jamaica, Guyana and others), in Africa (South Africa, for example), in Asia (India).
