How were slaves punished in ancient Rome?

Slaves in ancient Rome were not considered people, they were treated cruelly, therefore the punishments were appropriate. In punishments, they used sticks with which they beat. Chains or shackles could also be worn on slaves. With the help of chains, a slave could be hung up, left in such a state to be eaten by predatory animals. As a punishment, the slaves could stick their heads with resin, flay the skin, chop off any limb, and the slaves could also be ground in the millstones of the mill.
