How were the Andes formed?

The Andes mountain system stretches for more than 8,000 km. The Andes completely flank the north and west of the South American mainland. It is the second highest mountain system in the world.
These mountains were formed as a result of the collision of two lithospheric plates. Because active processes are constantly taking place in the faults of these plates, it can be said that the Andes are still growing.
