How will the phenotype splitting in F2 change if the AB gamete is not viable during the dihybrid
How will the phenotype splitting in F2 change if the AB gamete is not viable during the dihybrid crossing of AAbb * aaBB?
An organism with the AA bb genotype produces Ab sex cells. An organism with the aaBB genotype produces aB germ cells.
When crossing them together, we get the F1 offspring, represented by the diheterozygous AaBb hybrids.
These hybrids will produce germ cells of the following three types: ab, Ab, aB. The germ cells of AB are not viable due to the condition.
F2 offspring when crossing hybrids with each other will be represented by the following options:
organisms with two recessive traits (aabb);
organisms with the first dominant and the second recessive trait (2Aabb, AA bb);
organisms with the first recessive and the second dominant trait (2aaBb, aaBB);
organisms with two dominant traits (2AaBb).
Phenotypic cleavage will be represented by a ratio of 3: 3: 2: 1 (and not 9: 3: 3: 1, as in the case of the viability of AB – gametes).
