How will you develop a conditioned reflex in the dog to the command to sit? Describe your actions.

As you know, a reflex is the body’s response to the action of a certain stimulus. Reflexes are divided into unconditioned, that is, innate, and conditioned – acquired during life.
Since our task is to teach the pet to execute the command “Sit”, we understand that we must contribute to the formation of a conditioned reflex.
The formation of a conditioned reflex is possible only on the basis of an innate reflex. Thus, a necessary condition is the presence of a conditioned and unconditioned stimulus. The optimal unconditioned stimulus in a particular case will be food, and the conditioned one will be directly a vocal command.
For the successful formation of a conditioned reflex, it is necessary that the unconditioned stimulus be strong, necessarily causing the appearance of an unconditioned reflex. Therefore, we choose the food that the dog loves. We also create optimal conditions to accelerate the formation of the reflex. Timing when the dog is hungry is the most appropriate option. This will increase the dog’s desire to get food, which means to follow the command. In addition, it is advisable to start training in conditions where the dog will not be distracted by extraneous factors. If there are many stimuli, the formation of the reflex will be inhibited. It is important to remember that the reflex is not formed instantly, multiple repetitions are necessary, preferably periodic.
So, in order for our dog to learn to execute the command “Sit”, the most successful choice of place would be a morning walk when the dog is hungry. Under these conditions, the dog’s reaction to food will be maximal. Make sure the animal is absolutely healthy and not distracted by other factors. We will use whatever food the dog prefers. To begin with, we will say the command, when the dog fulfills it, we will give food. Let’s repeat the sequence of actions. Thus, with repeated repetition of the command “Sit” (conditioned stimulus), the dog will increase salivation (reaction to an unconditioned stimulus – food), and it will perform the specified action to get its favorite food. In the future, the fixed reflex will be carried out even without the subsequent action of the unconditioned stimulus.
