| If we increase the width of the rectangle by 11 cm, then we get a square, the perimeter of which is 112 cm. What is the perimeter of the rectangle?
1. Take the width of the rectangle as x.
2. (x + 11) – the length of the side of the square.
3. Considering that the perimeter of the square is 112 centimeters, we make the equation:
4 (x + 11) = 112 centimeters.
x + 11 = 28 centimeters.
x = 17 centimeters.
The width of the rectangle is 17 centimeters.
4. The length of the rectangle is equal to the length of the side of the square: x + 11 = 17 + 11 = 28 centimeters.
5. Calculate the perimeter of the rectangle (P):
P = 2 (17 + 28) = 2 x 45 = 90 centimeters.
Answer: The perimeter of the rectangle is 90 centimeters.
