| The solution consists of two components: 400 grams of water and 50 grams of salt.
The mass of the solution is equal to the sum of their masses:
m solution = 400 + 50 = 450 grams.
To find the mass fraction of salt, we divide the mass of salt by the mass of the solution:
C = m salt / m solution = 50/450 = 0.1111 = 11.11%;
