| In a circuit consisting of series-connected conductors with resistances R1 = 15 ohms, R2 = 14 ohms, R3 = 11 ohms, the current is 3 A. What is the total voltage in this circuit and what is the voltage on the first conductor?
1. Find the equivalent resistance of a circuit consisting of resistors that are connected in series:
Rtot = R1 + R2 + R3 = 15 + 14 + 11 = 40 Ohm;
2. We calculate the amount of voltage that is applied to the terminals of the circuit:
Utot = I * Rtot = 3 * 40 = 120 V;
3. Voltage drop on the first conductor:
U1 = I * R1 = 3 * 15 = 45 V.
Answer: Utot = 120 V, U1 = 45 V.
