In a family where the father has the second blood group, and the mother – the third
In a family where the father has the second blood group, and the mother – the third, a son was born with the first blood group. What is the probability of a child with a second blood group being born in this family?
The child receives the blood type by inheritance. It is determined by two genes that are transmitted from parents, one from the father, the second from the mother. There are three varieties of this gene – alleles A, B, O.
The first blood group is OO. Only O.
The second blood group is AA or AO. A or O can be transmitted to the child.
The third blood group is BB or ВO. The child can get B or O.
The fourth blood group is AB. Is inherited by A or B.
If the father has blood group 2 and the mother has blood group 3, then the child can inherit the following alleles.
AB – then there will be 4 blood group
AO – there will be 2 blood group
OВ – there will be 3 blood group
OO – will be the first blood group
This means that the child will be able to get 2 blood group with a probability of 25%.
