| In a rectangle ABCD AC18cm, AB = 17cm, O is the intersection point of the diagonals. Find the perimeter of the triangle COD.
A rectangle is a quadrangle in which opposite sides are equal and the corners are right:
AB = CD = 17 cm.
BC = AD.
The diagonals of the rectangle are:
AC = BD = 18 cm.
They intersect at point O, and the intersection point is halved:
AO = OС = AC / 2;
AO = OС = 18/2 = 9 cm;
BO = OD = BD / 2;
ВO = OD = 18/2 = 9 cm.
Consider a triangle ΔСОD.
The perimeter of a triangle is the sum of all its sides:
PCOD = CO + OD + CD;
RСOD = 9 + 9 + 17 = 35 cm.
Answer: the perimeter of the triangle ΔСОD is 35 cm.
