Decision:
1) ABD is rectangular (ABCD is rectangle), therefore, we can find AB by the Pythagorean theorem. AB² = BD²-AD² AB = √BD²-AD² = √74²-24² = √5476-575 = √4900 = 70 (cm).
2) The area of the rectangle is equal to the product of length and width => S = AB * AD = 70 * 24 = 1680 (cm²).
Answer: the area of the rectangle is 1680 cm².
