In a right-angled triangle ABC leg AC = 2 cm, and hypotenuse AB = 12 cm find the second leg.
We can find the second leg by the Pythagorean theorem:
12 ^ 2 = x ^ 2 + 2 ^ 2
x ^ 2 = 12 ^ 2 – 2 ^ 2
x ^ 2 = 144 – 4
x ^ 2 = 140
x = √140
