In a right triangle OMH, the hypotenuse MH is 15 cm. Find the leg OM if the sine of the angle H is 0.8.

A rectangular triangle is a triangle in which one of the corners is a straight line (equal to 90º).

In order to find the length of the leg OM, we apply the theorem of sines. The sine of an acute angle of a right-angled triangle is the ratio of the opposite leg to the hypotenuse:

sin H = OM / MH;

OM = MH sin H;

OM = 15 0.8 = 12 cm.

Answer: the length of the MO leg is 12 cm.
