In an isosceles trapezoid, the side is 13cm, the base is 10cm and 20cm. Find the area of the trapezoid.

In trapezoid ABCD AB = CD = 13 cm; BC = 10 cm; AD = 20 cm; BK – height;

S = 1/2 BK * (AD + BC);

BK² = AB² – AK²; AK = 1/2 (AD – BC) = 1/2 (20 – 10) = 5 (cm);

BK² = 169 – 25 = 144 (cm²);

BK = 12 cm;

S = 1/2 * 12 * (20 + 10) = 1/2 * 12 * 30 = 180 (cm²).
