| From the condition, we know that in an isosceles triangle with a perimeter of 40 cm, the base is 2 times smaller than the lateral side. In order to find the sides of a triangle, we compose and solve a linear equation with one variable.
We denote by the variable x cm the length of the base, then the side side can be written as 2x.
Formula for finding the perimeter of an isosceles triangle.
P = 2a + b, a – side, b – base.
2 * 2x + x = 40;
4x + x = 40;
5x = 40;
x = 40: 5;
x = 8 cm base of the triangle,
8 * 2 = 16 cm side toron.
