| In parallelogram ABCD, side AB is 5 cm larger than side BC. Find the sides of parallelogram ABCD if its perimeter is 100 cm.
AB is 5cm larger than BC.
Let’s write it down with the equation:
Let BC x, then AB = (x + 5)
The parallelogram has opposite sides equal, therefore we take all 4 sides
AB = CD, BC = AD
BC = 2x, AB = (2x + 10)
Let’s compose and solve the equation
2x + 2x + 10 = 100
4x = 90
x = 22.5 (BC)
AB = 22.5 + 5 = 27.5
AD = CB = 22.5cm.
AB = CD = 27.5cm.
